Hellooooo out there! I just know that all four of my readers out there have missed me terribly. But hey, guess what? I have actual knitting to show you! Please, try and remain calm. I’ll get to that in a minute. First things first….
It’s BASEBALL people! It’s WORLD SERIES baseball! (And, for the record, I just need to say that I can not STAND those Dane Cook commercials. They drive me totally nuts, and, as most of you know, that is not a far drive for me.)
But hey! How ’bout those Red Sox?! If the A’s can’t be there then they’re my next favorite team. Yup! It’s Sox vs Rox! I’m betting Sox in 5. The Rockies do have a couple young players that I really like and will be watching next year though. But I think that the crappy pitching they faced in the last two series didn’t do much to prepare them for the AL pitching of the World Series even if it wasn’t the Sox that had made it. Anyway, I digress… I must be reading Lyda too much!
Speaking of Lyda… how close are you to Disneyland, Miss Lyda?! Maren and I will be there November 9, 10 and 11. She’s dancing in the Holiday Spectacular Parade on the 10th. See, there I go with the digressing again.
If you look to the right of the page (see me doing my best Vanna impression?) you will notice that I have updated my Summer Knitting Goals. I did indeed finish the blankie for Dave and Heather AND gave it to them BEFORE the lovely Miss Abby arrived last week!
I was going to block it, but I didn’t. I probably should have. It bugs me that it’s not squared off. I made it bigger than I planned, it’s about the length of a crib mattress and little bit wider.

In this picture you can see the actual colors much better.

Maren’s Blankie? Uh yeah, that’s another story. It got put at the bottom of the pile for the summer. That thing is so darn heavy I was baking trying to knit on it! It’s going to have to wait a little longer, cause it’s still warmish here. Maybe I’ll finish it in November. And then I’m thinking I might want to start it over on bigger needles cause it really is heavy and maybe a little more drape would be good. But I really do NOT want to start over, I’ve done so much of it already. I have no idea. I’ll stop now.
I might be ready to think about actually trying a sock. I practiced a lot with those double pointy things and got pretty good at it. It wasn’t as hard as I thought it was going to be. Of course they were US 7s, NOT US 1s! Those still scare me a bit. (Okay, they scare me a LOT!)
Oh Kelly, what did you knit that you needed to learn to use dpns? Why, thanks so much for asking!
Are you sitting down?
Are you ready?
I knit THIS!! (Sorry for the crummy picture, I’ll get one in better light when I’m done with the little hat I’m attempting with the leftovers.)

Lookie! It’s a Tulip Sweater! And it only has two three glaring booboos! But I’m okay with them (kinda, mostly, a little, not really) cause it’s my very first sweater. I got two kits, this one was the experiment. I’m pretty sure I know how not to make the same booboos on the next one. At least two of them anyway.
That’s all I’ve got for today!
GO SOX!!
